Biden Addresses China at UN

Neither President Joe Biden nor Chinese President Xi Jinping referenced one another’s country directly in high-profile remarks at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, an apparent indication of both leaders’ desire to find areas of cooperation but also of the U.S. administration’s eagerness to shift its foreign policies away from the catastrophes that have dogged it so far.

To be sure, the leaders of the two superpowers made unmistakable references to the other in formal remarks at the high-profile gathering. Biden in his 30-minute in-person speech stated he had no interest in commencing a new cold war and expressed eagerness for the U.S. to return to supporting international institutions that prevent conflict, a clear acknowledgement to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemnation the day before of Washington and Beijing’s “completely dysfunctional relationship.”

“All the major powers of the world have a duty, in my view, to carefully manage their relationships, so we do not tip from responsible competition into conflict,” Biden said. “The U.S. is ready to work with any nation that steps up and pursues a peaceful resolution to shared challenges, even if we have intense disagreements in other areas.”

Biden spoke with Xi two weeks ago by phone, after which Chinese state media extolled its leader as having gained the upper hand over the American president.

Xi, who did not travel to New York, spent most of his roughly 15-minute taped remarks at the end of the debate session Tuesday discussing the ways in which China has supported foreign countries financially and other forms of aid to combat the ravaging effects of the coronavirus, which likely originated in China. Chinese leaders in previous international forums have also avoided referencing the U.S. by name.

Though not criticizing the U.S. directly on Tuesday, however, Xi issued clear barbs regarding some of Biden’s most recent decisions, chiefly the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“Military intervention from the outside and so-called democratic transformation entail nothing but harm,” Xi said, in between usual platitudes endorsing new forms of international relations based on mutual respect, equity and justice.

Indeed, unlike previous presidents – chiefly Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump – the current commander in chief not only avoided referencing China but softened his tone on subjects that directly apply to it.

Biden referenced the Quad, for example, America’s loose partnership with India, Japan and Australia that can only be defined as an attempt to rally regional powers against Chinese expansionism. However, when he boasted Tuesday of U.S. attempts that began under Trump to strengthen it, Biden said only that the partnership would “take on challenges ranging from health security to climate to emerging technologies.”

An inability to strengthen the Quad, and perhaps further militarize it, likely prompted the U.S. decision to enter into a new security arrangement with Australia and the U.K. announced last week, dubbed AUKUS.

When asked about the conspicuous omission from his remarks, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki explained that Biden “sees China as a country where there is great competition, but not one where we seek conflict.”

Not referencing China directly is “indicative of his objective of laying out our proactive agenda on the big issues we can work together on, including with China,” Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One shortly Biden’s remarks to the U.N., specifying climate change and terrorism threats.

Some of Biden’s most vociferous critics picked up on the omission.

“Pathetically weak,” Sen. Tom Cotton, Arkansas Republican, wrote on Twitter in response to Psaki’s explanation.

Some in more friendly quarters, however, endorsed the vision for American foreign policy Biden laid out on Tuesday.

“We need to understand that most of the pressing challenges to global security – Chinese economic expansionism, Russian propaganda, and climate change, for instance – have no conventional military solutions,” Sen. Chris Murphy, Connecticut Democrat, said in a statement. “Joe Biden understands this, and his speech today was an important platform for the President to explain how America is now well-positioned to engage in the fights that really matter.”

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday sued his estranged niece and The New York Times over a 2018 story about his family’s wealth and tax practices that was partly based on confidential documents she provided to the newspaper’s reporters.

Trump’s lawsuit, filed in state court in New York, accuses Mary Trump of breaching a settlement agreement by disclosing tax records she received in a dispute over family patriarch Fred Trump’s estate.

The lawsuit accuses the Times and three of its investigative reporters, Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buettner, of relentlessly seeking out Mary Trump as a source of information and convincing her to turn over documents. The suit claims the reporters were aware the settlement agreement barred her from disclosing the documents.

The Times’ story challenged Trump’s claims of self-made wealth by documenting how his father, Fred, had given him at least $413 million over the decades, including through tax avoidance schemes.

Mary Trump identified herself in a book published last year as the source of the documents provided to the Times.

Trump’s lawsuit alleges Mary Trump, the Times and its reporters “were motivated by a personal vendetta” against him and a desire to push a political agenda.

The defendants “engaged in an insidious plot to obtain confidential and highly-sensitive records which they exploited for their own benefit and utilized as a means of falsely legitimizing their publicized works,” the lawsuit said.

In a statement to NBC News, Mary Trump said of her uncle, “I think he is a loser, and he is going to throw anything against the wall he can. It’s desperation. The walls are closing in and he is throwing anything against the wall that he thinks will stick. As is always the case with Donald, he’ll try and change the subject.”

A Times spokesperson, Danielle Rhoads Ha, said the lawsuit “is an attempt to silence independent news organizations and we plan to vigorously defend against it.”

The Times’ coverage of Trump’s taxes, she said, “helped inform citizens through meticulous reporting on a subject of overriding public interest.”

One of the Times reporters, Craig, responded in a tweet: “I knocked on Mary Trump’s door. She opened it. I think they call that journalism.”

Trump is seeking $100 million in damages.

According to the lawsuit, Mary Trump came into possession of more than 40,000 pages of “highly sensitive, proprietary, private and confidential documents” through a legal case involving Fred Trump’s will.

The documents including financial records, accountings, tax returns, bank statements, and legal papers pertaining to Donald Trump, Fred Trump and their businesses, Trump’s lawsuit said.

In 2001, about two years after Fred Trump died, Mary Trump and other family members entered into a settlement agreement with confidentiality and non-disclosure clauses that barred them from sharing information about Fred Trump’s estate in, among other venues, newspaper stories, Trump’s lawsuit said. The agreement also covered the estate of Fred’s wife, Mary Anne Trump, who died in 2000.

Trump, who bashed the Times repeatedly during his presidency as the “failing New York Times,” noted in the lawsuit that the 2018 article was viewed more online than any previous Times article and that the New York Times Company’s stock price jumped 7.4% the week it ran.

The Times’ story said that Donald Trump and his father avoided gift and inheritance taxes by methods including setting up a sham corporation and undervaluing assets to tax authorities. The Times says its report was based on more than 100,000 pages of financial documents, including confidential tax returns from the father and his companies.

Mary Trump’s book, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” debuted in the midst of Donald Trump’s re-election campaign last year. Donald Trump’s brother, Robert, tried unsuccessfully to have a court block the book’s publication, citing the 2001 settlement agreement.

Ruling in Mary Trump’s favor, a judge said the confidentiality clauses, “viewed in the context of the current Trump family circumstances in 2020, would ’…offend public policy as a prior restraint on protected speech.”

Man Tries To “Pick-Up” Woman By Licking Her Booty At a Beauty Supply Store

BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn – Police launched an investigation Wednesday after a man sexually assaulted a woman in a Brooklyn beauty supply store, the NYPD said.

According to police, the woman was in the Sutter Avenue store, in the Brownsville section, just before 2 p.m. when the unidentified man approached her from behind.

As the victim bent over to remove an item from a refrigerator, the man proceeded to lick her buttocks, authorities said.

Recognize him? Man accused of licking a woman’s backside as she bent over in a Brooklyn beauty supply store, police say!

When the woman confronted the man, he exited the store and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

The NYPD released the above surveillance video of the strange encounter with the hope that the public could help identify the man.

Police described him as between 25 and 35 years old, standing around 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green football jersey, a dark blue baseball cap, and dark-colored sneakers.

Men Are Spreading Toothpaste on Their Wieners To Last Longer During Sex!!!

Over the last few months, a number of posts have cropped up on Reddit detailing people’s experiences of using toothpaste as a lubricant during masturbation or sex – and they sound incredibly painful.

You would think that most people would know better than to try this out for themselves at home, but apparently not.

As such, a medical expert has stepped in to warn people of the dangers that can occur if you put toothpaste anywhere other than your teeth.

Dr Shree Datta, a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for MyHealthcare Clinic, revealed how the product can cause infections or even chemical burns if used on the genitals.

Speaking to Mirror Online, she said: “Toothpaste can contain ingredients such as bleaching agents, peppermint or scented oils, which can be irritating or abrasive.

“These may cause a mild chemical burn and blistering on any area of sensitive skin. I’d definitely advise against putting toothpaste into or onto your genitals.

“These products are specially designed for oral use and can disrupt the balance of your vagina flora, which might lead to thrush or bacterial vaginosis.

“They can also damage the delicate skin in that area and the vaginal wall, affecting the amount of pleasure you experience during sex.”

She added: “I would not recommend using toothpaste, or any other bathroom product as lubricant for that matter on your genitals, as these products are not recommended for this use and can irritate the skin, as well as disrupt the cellular balance of the skin on your genitals.

“Silicone or water-based lubricants which are designed and intended for use during sex are the best products to invest in.”

The terribly unpleasant symptoms Dr Datta refers to are the exact same ones social media users reported experiencing.

In one Reddit post, a man claims he got a chemical burn after putting toothpaste on his penis and it wasn’t pretty.

He recalled: “Later that day when I went to use the toilet, when I took down my trousers I saw some discolouration to my d***, I had a look and all the skin was red and raw, with some parts of the skin beginning to scab. Not good.

“The pain was really really bad, it was really hard to walk and keep a straight face.”

Another also confessed to using toothpaste as a lubricant and said that the pain had been so bad, they had to take painkillers.

They wrote: “I accidentally used toothpaste as lube. It’s the morning now and it’s still really inflamed. There is less pain but I’m on painkillers so there is some help. But please, for the love of god, in whatever universe you’re thinking to do this, DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE AS LUBE.”

This isn’t the first time doctors have had to warn against using toothpaste for things other than cleaning teeth.

Last summer, doctors issued an urgent warning not to put toothpaste on burns.

Dr Kamarul Ariffin, of Malaysia explained it could have very unpleasant side effects.

To prove his point, the medic shared a horrific image of a woman’s hand, after she’d attempted to treat a hot oil burn with Colgate toothpaste.

Instead of making her wound better, the woman’s hand had swelled in size to a point where it was almost unrecognisable. The picture also shows the hand is covered in incredibly painful looking blisters.

As a result, he warned people not to use home remedies as they could cause infection and irritation.

And back in 2018, a number of women took part in a bizarre beauty trend, which saw them slathering toothpaste on their breasts.

They believed the toothpaste would help them grow, but experts quickly shut down the theory.

Christopher Inglefield, the medical director of the London Bridge Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Clinic, said: “This bizarre advice simply preys on the many women who are unhappy with the size of their breasts and who might resort to bizarre ‘miracle fixes’ to find a solution to their problem.

“Sadly, like a lot of guidance on the internet, the Vaseline and toothpaste method of breast augmentation is fake news and pure online quackery.”
